William H. Sykes

Private Sykes was wounded on July 1st, 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was then captured a the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5th, 1864 and eventually sent to the Andersonville Prison in Georgia. William was then sent to the rebel prison in Florence South Carolina where he was exchanged on February 28th, 1865.  The day after William returned home to Indiana he passed away.
