Private McGregor was reported missing in action after the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862 but later rejoined the regiment. When the 19th Indiana was folded into the 20th Indiana in the fall of 1864 he served in Company I of that regiment.
He received a pension after the war.
