Private (Lacy) Lay was wounded at the Battle of South Mountain on September 14th, 1862 and died the next day.

A "Minor" pension was filed for in June of 1867 by Charles Fisher as the gardian . The spelling of the name on the pension application was Lay and not Lacy.More times than not the pension contains the most accurate information.
