Private Jack was wounded at the Battle of Brawners Farm on August 28th, 1862. He resigned in December of 1863 because of his wound holding the rank of 1st. Lieutenant. He then joined Company E of the 9th Indiana Cavalry mustering out in August of 1865 as a Captain
