Private Holloway quickly rose to the rank of Captain by the end of 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863 and mustered out of the service in July of 1864.
After surviving some of the hardest fought battles in the war he died from the result of a farming accident in 1887.
He received a pension.
