Private Ganguin was wounded on September 7th, 1864 at Yellow River Virginia. In the fall of 1864 the 19th Indiana was folded into the ranks of the 20th Indiana because they were so few in number. He would serve in Company I of the 20th Indiana until his muster out on July 12th, 1865.
