Private Cly was wounded in the shoulder on June 8th, 1864 during the fighting around Laurel Hill Virginia. In the fall of 1864 he transferred to the 20th Indiana Infantry with the other surviving members of the 19th.

Abraham never filed for a pension but after his death his wife Mattie filed for a "Widows" pension.
